SSR International Airport was designated Indian Ocean's Leading Airport 2021 for the third year in a row by the World Travel Awards. Indeed, since 2019 SSRIA has been topping the ranks in the region. This latest achievement highlights the relentless efforts of AML and ATOL Teams towards delivering the best possible services and providing the means for an enhanced passenger travel experience.
In his special message to the staff, the Officer-in-Charge of AML, Mr Siven Chellen congratulated all the staff for their hard work and perseverance. He also called upon them to remain focused and determined in the decisive months ahead.
Since the reopening of borders on 01 October 2021, AML and ATOL teams have been gearing up for the resumption of service by additional airlines, as well as for an increase in flight frequencies. Already, for the first 15 days of October 2021 some 40,000 passengers travelled through SSRIA.
As airline frequencies and passenger numbers continue to pick up, there is much optimism that the aviation and air travel sector are on the right track towards recovery.
